The ROXY EC is the ideal introduction system for Electrospray Ionization (ESI)-MS for single compound conversion.

For known compounds (e.g., drug candidates, pollutants, pesticides, etc) a quick profiling and/or reconfirmation of potential metabolites is often sufficient for decision making. Therefore, target compounds can be directly infused through the electrochemical ReactorCell into the MS, often without the need of any liquid chromatographic separation (HPLC), making EC/MS a very powerful tool for fast metabolic profiling and related applications.

The resulting time and cost savings are substantial when compared with daunting in vivo or in vitro experiments. The ROXY EC System is supplied with a dual syringe infusion pump and all connecting tubing and parts for immediate installation and use (for details, see parts list ROXY EC System).

Phase I: oxidation reactions, e.g., oxidative metabolism, biotransformation reaction, etc.

The electrode potential of the ReactorCell was ramped from 0 - 1500 mV in steps of 100 mV and MS spectra were recorded continuously, total analysis time 45 minutes. All other oxidative metabolites found (Phase I ) were in good agreement with the biotransformation reaction in the body and the metabolites found by microsomal incubation.

Configuration

A number of electrode materials are useful for the synthesis of metabolites. A platinum, and the new Magic Diamond™ electrodes are supplied. The ROXY EC system further comprises of the following parts:

  • ROXY™ potentiostat DCC
  • Reactor cell with Pt, GC, Au, MD WE, and HyREF
  • Dialogue software
  • Harvard 11-plus dual syringe pump
